This quilt pattern for PARTIAL ECLIPSE is a digital pdf quilt pattern by Robin Pickens, shown using her Dandi Duo collection for Moda Fabrics, but can be made with your choice of fabrics. (Dandi Duo ships to quilt shops December 2023). Make a small wall quilt of 32 1/2" square or make 4 units to make a larger 64 1/2" square quilt. This quilt can be made with charm packs, layer cake, or fat quarters for blocks plus background yardage in 3 different fabrics. Because of the 3 backgrounds, the contrast and background play is just as important as the prints in the curves. A template is included with the pattern for making the 4" radius (8" diameter) quarter-circle pieces. Please download both files to get the template and make sure you print at 100% without resizing and check the rulers for accurate size on your printout. If you'd like to use a plastic template ruler, the actual quilts were made using the Creative Grids Circle Savvy Quilt Ruler (CGRSAV1) which could be purchased separately. Yardage needed is indicated on the back of pattern.
An optional finish for this quilt is with curved corners to reflect the curves within the blocks. Use your same template to cut the corner curves after quilting if desired. If using curved corners, it is recommended to use Bias cut binding tape for handling the curves well. Moda makes a lovely bias binding tape in Thatched fabric in Soft Black or Gray that goes great with this quilt!
